Giving FAQs

Why should I give online?

Giving online is a personal preference, but here are some of the benefits that people have expressed: Online giving is a step of faith. By deciding in advance to give and planning to give regularly, you’re making an ongoing faith commitment to God. Online giving simplifies your life. By having your giving already scheduled, you don’t have to think about it or remember to give each week. Online giving helps you be consistent. Even when you’re away from church, you’ll still be regular in your giving, so you don’t have to worry about “catching up” the following week. Online giving removes obstacles to giving. Sometimes forgetfulness, procrastination, or temptation can get in the way of giving back to God. Online giving overcomes all those obstacles.

Is it safe to give online?

Yes. VictoryPoint uses a secure and data encrypted third-party payment system which is actually safer than writing a check which can be lost or stolen.

What types of accounts can I give from?

You can give online from your checking account, savings account, MasterCard, Visa or Discover card. Please note that we strongly discourage online giving that leads to personal indebtedness. For that reason, we recommend that you use your bank account for giving purposes rather than a credit card, especially if you do not pay off your balance each month.

Are there any fees involved with giving online?

There are no fees to you with an online gift. There is a small fee for VictoryPoint, but we believe it is negligible compared to the benefits and the consistency that online giving provides to you and to VP. We are open to receiving any version of online giving, but note that the online transaction with the lowest fee (for VP) is direct-debit from your bank account.

Can I make a one-time contribution?

Yes. The system allows you the option of either making a one-time contribution or setting up a recurring contribution.

For recurring contributions, can I change the amount or the frequency of my gift once I have set it up?

Yes. You can change or cancel your contribution at any time before the date of your next contribution.

Will I still receive an annual tax receipt from the church?

Yes. The church will continue to mail year-end contribution statements to your address on file for tax purposes.

Can I designate my gift to a particular cause?

VictoryPoint works with a general fund budget and all contributions default to that fund. There are times when VP asks for specific funds for unique issues like a holiday offering (and those can be noted in the online comments section of the contribution page) but in most cases your contribution will go directly to the VP general fund.

Can I use my debit card as well as my credit card?

Yes, as long as your card is a Visa, MasterCard or Discover. I currently use an online bill-pay service from my bank to pay utilities, etc.

Can’t I just use that service instead?

Absolutely. Some VP attenders already use their bank’s online bill-pay service. Just set up VictoryPoint as you would any other recipient. Contact your banking provider if you need help with set-up.

I have additional questions about online giving that have not been addressed. Who can I talk to?

You can contact Earl Tieman, Managing Pastor, or Karin Greenwood, Finance Coordinator, or call the office at 738-1800.
